As many know, I have fallen in love with many of the blends created by Drunk Chicken Cigars out of New York City, NY. The Living the Dream blend is one I have enjoyed for some time now, and the Lonsdale seems to be the perfect vitola to bring our all the best this cigar has to offer.
The Living the Dream is a Medium Strength cigar blended with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, and Nicaraguan and Dominican binder and fillers. This 6.5 X 42 Lonsdale has a beautiful medium brown Habano wrapper and is topped with a solid triple cap. I used the Xikar XO Straight Cutter for the perfect draw resistance.
The cold draw has notes of creamy milk chocolate and mild tobacco. Upon light, the burn line was true and the smoke output was billowing! The burn line stayed good throughout the entire cigar.
Getting into the flavor notes, the first third has notes of milk chocolate, baking spices, orange zest and black pepper that lingers on the palate and through the retrohale.
The second third transitions nicely with creamy leather, a hint of chocolate, with pepper left lingering on the palate and baking spices on the retrohale.
The #finalthird kicks up the complexity with rich leather, baking spices, earth, and red and black pepper on the retrohale, with a lingering note of orange zest on the palate for a long finish.
The flavor complexity of the Living the Dream Lonsdale was beautiful, even more complex and flavorful than its Robusto counterpart. Great construction and appearance!
I gave the Drunk Chicken - Living the Dream Lonsdale a solid Final Third Cigar rating of 95! That is 5 ticks up from the Robusto as the Lonsdale just seems to be the perfect vitola for this blend offering up even more flavor and complexity for my palate.
