The Trail Mix is a medium-strength, medium-plus body Nicaraguan Puro blended by Curivari for the LCA. This cigar comes in the 6 X 54 Box-Pressed Toro vitola, and dons a nice triple cap perfect for any cut!
Construction is perfect with a beautiful rich brown wrapper and a firm but not too firm texture.
Upon cut, the cold draw has notes of chocolate and barnyard.
Nice even light up and solid grey ash formed in large chunks before falling.
Getting into the flavor notes, the first third has notes of cedar, walnut, orange zest, light mint, creamy vanilla, and black and red pepper lingering on the palate and retrohale.
The second third continues with notes of cedar, orange zest, green apple, light mint, creamy vanilla, with black pepper lingering on the tongue and through the retrohale.
The final third continues with nice complexity offering notes of cedar, orange zest, light mint, light wood, earth, green apple, with black pepper lingering on the tongue and through the retrohale.
The smoking characteristics were near perfect with a perfect draw, smoke output and an even light up. Burn line had a couple of small issues with one burn touch up at the beginning of the final third.
I really enjoyed the complexity of this cigar, and the name is spot on!
n the end, i gave the March 2021 LCA Release of the Trail Mix a Final Third Cigar rating of 94. Fantastic limited release you’ll havew to get your hands on, March 5th, 2021, at The Smoke Pit or you favorite local LCA shop.
