Cedar Creek Cigars was co-founded in 2018 by Josh Dowler and Bryce Elsner and sits on a beautiful property that shares Cedar Creek Winery and vineyard, Cedar Creek Brewery and Cedar Creek Distillery in Martinsville, IN. Coming soon is a restaurant and cigar lounge! They also offer a concert series on site from their outdoor stage!

Josh’s love for cigars began after coming home early from school one day and finding his mother smoking a cigar and having a drink. That encounter led to years of bonding time and a new love of cigars for Josh. During holidays they would sneak away to enjoy a cigar and conversation with one another, creating a lasting relational bond for many years to come. Relationships often happen in moments when we sit back, enjoy a cigar, and just talk!

Josh and Bryce met while both were on the lake in separate boats and in passing - their wives already knew each other - they spotted each other enjoying a cigar. Cigars brought this friendship together and later birthed the idea of having a brand of their own - first creating some cigars for themselves and friends to enjoy, then later when people started asking to but cigars from them, they decided to begin the process of developing a brand and creating their first two blends - the Connecticut and San Andreas Maduro.

In developing these cigars, they wanted to not only create blends that would pair nicely with spirits such as whiskey, rum and wine, but also design flavor profiles that would pair nicely with some of the incredible craft beer that Bryce makes at Cedar Creek Brewery. Bryce is also the founder of the brewery, and their friendship led to lots of beer, cigars, and a partnership that we see today in Cedar Creek Cigars.

The Cedar Creek Cigars Connecticut is a Honduran cigar utilizing tobacco that has aged for 3-4 years and has been double fermented. Blended with an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, Honduran binder, and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua, this Mild to Medium Connecticut comes in a 6 X 52 Toro and is topped with a nice triple cap, perfect for the Colibri Deep V Cutter.

Beautiful creamy tan to light brown wrapper, with nice construction and texture.

Cold draw is an aromatic barnyard and tobacco mix with great draw resistance. Even burn line at light up that held on well throughout the cigar. One minor burn touch up toward the end of the second third, but no real issues. White ash fell off about every inch or so.

Getting into the flavor notes, the first third has a nice mix of hay, smooth creamy tobacco, light baking spices, light roast coffee, and lingering hint of pepper on the finish and through the retrohale.

Second third had similar notes of creamy tobacco and a lingering baking spice, with the addition of light cedar and pecan. Hint of baking spice and pepper is left lingering on the palate and through the retrohale.

Into the #finalthird the strength picks up a notch to a Medium with dark roast coffee, nut, and a light wood note that lingers. White and black pepper build a bit on the finish and through the retrohale.

Similar flavor notes throughout with some nice transitions between thirds to keep you interested in whats next! Flavor lingered long on the palate well after each puff.

When I write reviews, I like to smoke a couple (at least) to get a true feel for the cigar and its consistency. I am not typically a Connecticut guy, but this is not your typical one trick pony of flavors that many Connecticuts offer. This is one I will keep stocked in the humidor for those days when I want a milder cigar without having to settle for anything less than premium!

I gave the Cedar Creek Cigars Connecticut a Final Third Cigar rating of 90. Solid cigar well worth the rating! This is one every cigar smoker can pick up and enjoy, with whatever beverage you choose!
