JRE Tobacco was founded by Julio R. Eiroa and his son Justo M. Eiroa; they have their hands in all aspects of cigar manufacturing - from growing the tobacco to displays of their finest blends in your local shop! JRE Tobacco, known for their outstanding and Authentic Corojo, makes some of the best blends utilizing this crop to shop operation! Their commitment to excellence shines in the cigar I am reviewing today, the Cameroon! With the addition of an African seed, Honduran grown Cameroon wrapper, this cigar has it all!

The JRE Tobacco - Aladino Cameroon won my heart over while I was visiting some buddies in St. Louis, MO, where I met Dan at The Rivermen Cigar Company. He carries the whole Aladino line, and the Cameroon and Corojo Reserva were high on my list when I visited his shop and lounge to smoke. I recently smoked the Corojo Reserva and it earned a rating of 94, a couple small deductions for burn touch-ups, but a fantastic cigar.

I have smoke several of the Aladino Cameroons and knew I loved them, but wanted to see how the actual rating compared to the Corojo Reserva, so here goes…

The Aladino Cameroon is a Medium Strength cigar blended with a beautiful African seed, Honduran grown, Cameroon wrapper, with a binder and fillers of the incredible Honduran Corojo tobacco perfected by the Eiroas over the years. I am smoking the 6 X 43 Lonsdale, a vitola I have fallen in love with recently!

The Cameroon has nice construction, a beautiful wrapper and a perfect triple cap in which I used my Xikar XO Straight Cutter.

Getting into the flavor notes, the first third engaged the senses right from light-up! Notes of creamy nut, and caramel, wood, with white pepper lingering on the palate. Black pepper comes to life through the retrohale.

The second third transitioned nicely with a creamy caramel, nut, and nougat, slight hint of cinnamon spice, with white pepper lingering on the palate and retrohale.

Into the #finalthird, the strength ticked up a bit to a solid medium, with notes of creamy nut and caramel, baking spices, fresh cut grass, and black and red pepper on the retrohale.

This was a very nice flavor journey and well balanced between creamy and savory! The differences in flavors between the Corojo Reserva and the Cameroon were vast, but the complexity was solid from both.

The smoking characteristics were near perfect, only a slight wave in the burn line at light up that evened out and never needed a touch up - which is why this scored a bit higher that the Corojo Reserva for me! I smoked this down to the nub in approximately 85 minutes.

In the end, and it won’t be the last time I smoke this cigar by a long shot, I gave the JRE Tobacco - Aladino Cameroon a Final Third Cigar Rating of 95! Fantastic cigar that will be in my rotation as long as I can still get them!

Now to the comparison of which cigar wins out between the Corojo Reserva and Cameroon - I had wrongly assumed that the Cameroon would win out hands down after smoking nearly a dozen of them in St. Louis and only one of the Corojo Reservas. However, they really cannot compare to one another. They are that different! The Corojo Reserva is a stronger cigar with more Corojo flavor notes and the Cameroon is smoother with that creamy sweetness from the wrapper. Without the burn touch ups on the Corojo Reserva, it would have either tied or slightly exceeded the overall rating, but in the end I can’t pick a true winner. They are both cigars that I will smoke whenever I can and should be on any cigar smokers list to try!
