From the founders of Blowing Smoke Cigars, Father and Son team Robert and DeVante Minor, the Reaper is the Medium Strength Habano Dark added recently to their line.

From the website:

“As Air Force Veterans, cigar smoking was always a part of the culture especially overseas. In early 2019 on a recent “Father Son” trip to the Dominican Republic, Robert, a former Air Force Air Traffic Controller, and DeVante, a former Air Force Firefighter, formed the idea to create a family legacy to pass on to future generations.

Living in Houston, visiting various cigar bars and lounges further enhanced our passion for cigars; thus Blowing Smoke Cigar Company was formed.

Blowing Smoke Cigar Company is dedicated to cigars and the camaraderie that comes with smoking. Whether you’re a novice at smoking cigars or a professional looking for something different to taste, we have the cigar for you.”

The Reaper is a Medium Plus Dominican Republic made cigar blended using a Habano 92 wrapper, Indonesian Besuki binder, and fillers of Habano 92, Criollo 98 and Pennsylvania tobacco. I smoked the 5 X 50 Robusto for this review.

Construction was good with a nice looking wrapper and good texture. A slightly sloppy double cap that held well upon cutting. I used a straight cut on this one and it offered up a perfect draw resistance and cap was solid.

After cutting, the cold draw is a creamy milk chocolate and hay. Perfect light up and razor sharp burn line gave this a great start! The Reaper produces thick, creamy, billowing smoke, and long white ash that held on to almost the halfway point before I bumped the table and it fell in the ashtray.

Getting into the first third, the flavor notes are general baking spices, dark fruit, and black pepper that lingers on the tongue.

The second third ramps up in flavor with peanut, baking spices, dark fruit, rich leather, and a red pepper that lingers well on the palate.

Into the #finalthird, the notes are cinnamon spice, rich leather, lightly charred nut, and cayenne pepper that builds through the final third, spicy on the tongue and through the retrohale.

The flavors last long after each puff, and the spice builds throughout this cigar!

I really enjoyed this cigar and the spice components. I am a spicy food fan, and this cigar is a spicy treat! As I have said before, tastes are subjective, so if the flavors sound good to you I believe you will love this cigar!

This cigar has good construction, near perfect smoking characteristics, and impressive flavor complexity!

In the end I gave the Blowing Smoke Cigar Company Reaper a Final Third Cigar rating of 92. A great new offering to the Blowing Smoke Cigar line!
