The Camacho Hard Charger is a Medium to Full strength Honduran made cigar, blended with a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper, with Corojo binder and fillers. I am smoking to 6 X 50 Toro, using the Colibri Deep V Cutter on the solid triple cap for a great draw resistance.
Construction is great with a beautiful dark brown wrapper, a nice oily sheen, and a good texture throughout.
Upon cut, the cold draw is a mix of sweet tobacco and chocolate.
Burn line at light up was solid, and the burn throughout the cigar was good with a couple minor burn touch ups. Perfect draw, solid ash and billowing smoke output!
Getting into the flavor notes, this one has very nice complexity!
First third has notes of dark fruit (dried black cherry), a creamy malt, mild roast coffee bitterness, and wood, with very faint pepper lingering.
Second third continues with the black cherry note and creamy malt, with malt teetering between vanilla and chocolate, Wood becomes more of a cedar in this third. Black pepper lingers faintly in the background.
#Finalthird balances nicely with cedar, black cherry, chocolate malt, medium roast coffee with black pepper building on the tongue and through the retrohale.
First two thirds are a solid medium strength and the final third ticks up to full.
This may be my favorite Camacho since the good old days! Great complexity and flavors were beautifully balanced.
I am not sure why, but I was pleasantly surprised with this cigar! It performed well in every category, and flavors were very engaging. In the end I gave the Camacho Hard Charger Limited Edition 2018 a Final Third Cigar rating of 91.5.
Only 1,500 boxes of this blend were made in this limited edition 2018 release. What a shame! If you can, get your hands on some of these before they are all gone!
